I'm curious for those in the PR agency business who believes they'll see an increase in revenues in 2010 or do you think income will be stagnant?
As for us, we're going to be up nearly 30 percent this year thanks to sticking with our
Pay-on-Performance model, and expect no less than the same for 2010.
What say you?

I've just come across what I think is a really good white paper by
Skyline San Diego on what's working in exhibiting.I've attached it to the end of this blog for download, but here's some key points in the analysis that I believe are very pertinent for marketers to view as they wrestle with setting their 2010 budgets:

1. Exhibitors are having more success getting to…

The San Diego Business Journal hosted their Third Annual “Most Admired CEO” event last night at the Marriott Hotel & Marina in downtown San Diego. This was hands down my favorite event of the year and for good reason. Four of the five clients nominated were honored with the “Most Admired CEO” award.
A total of 65 finalists were nominated and then competed in one of the following categories: Public, Private, Nonprofit and Government Agency. Stalwart Communication’s clients who…

This article is well worth the read, particularly as it mentions how PR Agencies must look beyond traditional media relations and more toward engagement models.
While I don't agree that the tactic of reaching out to newspapers, magazines and television stations is at all dead (even though giving them
press releases is), this article clearly and accurately discusses how a multi-pronged approach…

Here in San Diego, we've got a supermarket chain of sorts that exclusively serves beer, wine and liquors called
BevMo (formerly Beverages & More). Now being an avid fan of single malt scotch and high grade bourbons, I am a rewards member of this establishment, and have always found their selection and service to be the best anywhere.
On my most recent trip, I pleasantly…

The San Diego MTS El Cajon Transit Center opened their newly renovated convenience store this morning and many individuals were in attendance to celebrate. In addition, San Diego 6 and KFMB (News 8) showed up to cover the event. The building was originally slated for demolition but because of BriceHouse Kobey, LLC, a partnership of two San Diego-based companies, the building was renovated and includes for the first time a full-service convenience store as well as upgraded restroom facilities.…

This is a terrific blog post by my friend and colleague, Melissa DelGaudio of Honeybee Consulting. She captures the issues with unsafe "Tweeting" well!

This article clearly points to the fact that bloggers - the good ones, mind you - are starting to emerge as true journalists. That doesn't mean the quality or integrity level is there yet, but it will be. Looks at leading groups like
Voice of San Diego and the
San Diego News Network as examples.
And I assure you - more will follow.…

A colleague and I recently had lunch with the Managing Editor of a well known publication here in San Diego and the topic of pushy PR folks came up. I wish I could say I was surprised to hear him say that he had been stalked by a PR rep, but the reality is, some people take it too far and won’t accept when a journalist isn’t interested in a story. While their persistence might be admired by their bosses, it’s certainly not appreciated by the other side. Being aware of these pet peeves by…

Last night while watching a few old seasons of HBO’s hit “
Entourage,” something an actor said stuck me. While conversing with his talent agent, he said, “After you get me a job, then I’ll start trusting you!” While I’m in no way trying to compare the acting industry with PR, there is a relationship that takes place between actors and agents that’s very similar to the relationship between PR agents and their clients. Before a company signs…

We’ve always heard that giving back to the community is good for business. Well, here’s serious proof.
Cali Bamboo has received no less than 10 local and national trade and business media coverage on their philanthropic actions as part of its affiliation for “1% for the Planet” organization. The hits were in key outlets that will not only bring new interest, but new customers.
Take a look as just some of…
