I’ve attended a few of his speaking engagements and aside from the early morning start time, this was one of my favorites. The topic was videoblogs or vlogs. Altomare explained that a vlog is essentially a blog that utilizes moving pictures. There are definite benefits to vlogs;… Continue

Local stations engage in "Co-opetition", trend to follow national outlets

I saw an article today in the Bulldog Reporter's Daily Dog newsletter about how two Philadelphia news stations have stood up a news pool service to reduce the costs of sending camera crews and trucks to the scene of local newsworthy events. The piece struck me how much things have changed for local news organizations. While understanding the economic necessities for such an agreement, what I believe this trend also recognizes is that local evening broadcasts are no longer the place for breaking… Continue

What do social networks and relationships have in common? Commitment

It amazes me the number of social networks that some people are signed up with yet don’t stay up to date on them. I have a hard time juggling a few and feel guilty when I realize that one has been neglected. How PR firms should not solicit businesses

First off, unsolicited e-mails to solicit new PR clients are wholly ineffective, but this one from Nadel Phelan takes the cake. I got it from a CMO friend of mine.

Memo to Marketers: If you use a cliche, make sure you got it right!!

At first, I wasn't too phased by AXA Equitable's multi-media ad campaign that featured an 800-pound gorilla telling folks at the breakfast table, park and even the health spa asking individuals to start securing their retirement and financial independence. Regardless of venue, this "guest" would always end his comments why saying "But what do I know? I'm just the 800-pound gorilla in the room."…
