Council on Public Relations - How to Rebuild Revenue and Revitalize Business:

I really like this article, and would only add one other to-do item - PR agencies must consider "Putting their money where their mouth is" by evolving to a performance-based fee model to further help set themselves and their clients up for success.

Happy reading!…

Can Vick reverse his fortunes w/the right attitude and PR strategy?

So I'm curious. Now that NFL Commissioner Robert Goodell has conditionally reinstated quarterback Michael Vick, the question for our profession is whether his image is repairable over time or, even if he is truly remorseful and committed, still doomed?

What say you all?…

Why I got into an argument this weekend….over Twitter

This past Saturday I spent most of my day enjoying the sunshine and hanging out with my friends. We chatted about the upcoming Chargers season, how terrible the Padres are doing and then the conversation turned to work and Twitter. I’ve sat through numerous social media seminars and have been an active participant long enough to know that it’s an extremely valuable tool for businesses if the following two conditions apply:

1) Your stakeholders (potential customers, partners and… Continue

Getting Social with the Society for Marketing Professional Services

Social Media. For those of us who partake, we might be thinking that the need to explain the importance of these tools is getting old. But there’s still a surprisingly large number of folks out there not participating. So why? They don’t understand how it works or its purpose? All this social media talk may sound redundant, but not everyone has jumped on the Twitter train yet so it’s important that we continue to educate.

Yesterday I attended the… Continue

Article - Why keep up marketing and PR in down times?

This is a pretty good overview and makes some solid points. I highly recommend reading it.

Looking to raise awareness? Open your doors!

Companies are beginning to employ personalized approaches in order to raise awareness about what services they have to offer. Some are making a presence on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, and others are taking it a step further and opening their doors. Two clients in particular are taking advantage of the latter approach with successful results.

San Diego Business Journal - Businesses Paying Attention to Their Online Reputations

In full disclosure - this is a synopsis of an event held by Reid Carr and his folks at Red Door Interactive, a client of Stalwart Communications. However, even if they weren't, I'd still post it here. It's really good stuff. Kudos to reporter Ned Randolph for including his own positive experience for social… Continue

What will happen to investigative news?

I was speaking today at the Poway, Calif., Chamber of Commerce's Lunch and Learn event today about how small business owners and entrepreneurs can do PR on their own, particularly in social media. During that talk I made a brief mention how companies needed to be their own broadcasters, in part because traditional media outlets were shrinking substantially if not dying out… Continue

Kudos to PRSA! Now go one step further!

I really enjoyed the news release I saw from the Public Relations Society of America calling for more transparency for “pay-for-play” news articles, editorial pieces that appear to be objective, but come only when a company purchases advertisement in the media outlet. The lack of full disclosure is, in my opinion, and clear violation of ethics.

I would only ask that they also call for the consideration that Performace-based PR firms like Stalwart Communications be given a nod for… Continue
